After teaching elementary school for nearly eight years, Ashley Todd decided to start a family. She and her husband, Gregg Todd, who is a native of Statesboro, were blessed with a healthy baby girl named "Abbigail" in December of 2004. With a BA in Early Childhood Education from Mercer University, Ashley knew that being a teacher would limit her involvement with her family and she was opened to a career change.
With the help of her mother-in-law, Gail Ansley, she started a soap business out of her home. "Abbigail's Soapsuds" became a very productive business and the two decided that they would like to open a storefront in order to sell their soaps along with unique gifts and affordable home decor. Ashley was born and raised in Newnan, Georgia and always admired the downtown setting. After her husband and mother-in-law purchased a prime location on West Main Street in downtown Statesboro, Ashley knew that a store named after her newborn daughter would bring about a positive change to the "West" side of downtown and would allow Todd more freedom to be with her family.
"Abbigail's on Main" has become a well-known gift shop in the heart of historic downtown Statesboro with their signature aqua gift boxes and impeccable customer service. The store recently received an honorable award in 2007 for "Best in the Boro" for home decor. Ashley and her family reside in Statesboro and have added yet another daughter, Amelia, to their growing family. |
